Ashlar is not a real company. This website is a portfolio piece: the design and WordPress build for a fictional design & build contractor in London. The people, projects, addresses and phone numbers on it are invented, and no building work is offered here.
This page explains what the site really does with the information you give it, and shows the kind of privacy notice a real London builder would publish. Wherever the two differ, we say so.

The short version
- No analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies.
- The only personal details the site collects are the ones you type into the quote form.
- Please don’t send real details. Nobody will ring you back about your extension: Marta, who would normally make that call, is made up too.
- Nothing is sold, shared or used for marketing.
Who we are
In this notice “Ashlar”, “we” and “us” mean Ashlar Construction Ltd, the company named in the footer. It doesn’t exist: there is no such company on the register for England & Wales, the yard address is invented and the phone number comes from a range Ofcom sets aside for TV and film.
The real person responsible for the site, and for anything sent through it, is the independent designer and developer who built it as a portfolio piece.
What the site collects
The quote form
The form on the Contact page asks what you’re planning, roughly how big it is, when you’d like to start, your name, phone number, email address and postcode, plus any notes you add and whether you’d like a sample Friday report.
When you press send, those details are saved in the site’s WordPress dashboard and emailed to the site’s administrator. On a real builder’s website that’s how an enquiry reaches the office. Here it only exists to show the form working, and nobody follows it up.
Spam protection
To stop automated spam, the form limits how many enquiries can come from the same connection in a short time. It keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for ten minutes and then deletes it automatically. A hidden field also catches bots; it holds nothing about you.
Server logs
Like almost any website, the server it runs on may keep standard access logs, such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested, to keep it secure. Those logs belong to the hosting provider, not to this site.
How it would be used
A real contractor would use your enquiry to reply, arrange a visit to the house and prepare a quote. Under UK data protection law, the lawful basis would be taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
On this demo your details are used for one thing only: showing that the form, the dashboard inbox and the email notification work.
Who it’s shared with
Nobody. There are no marketing lists, chat widgets, maps, embedded videos or tracking tools. The only other parties involved are the company that hosts the site and the email service that delivers the notification.
How long it’s kept
A real builder would typically keep an enquiry that doesn’t go ahead for about a year, and the records of a finished project for six years or more, for tax and warranty reasons.
Test enquiries sent through this demo serve no purpose once they’ve been read, and they’re deleted.
Your rights
UK data protection law gives you the right to see the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it’s used and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Because Ashlar doesn’t exist, there’s no office to write to, and the email address and phone number in the footer are placeholders: please don’t use them. If you’ve sent real details through the form by mistake and want them removed, get in touch with the developer through the portfolio where you found this site.
